Some data sets and Looks will have missing data. This is very common when you pull data by a timeframe and certain dates / weeks / months / etc don’t have any corresponding value. Looker’s “dimension fill” feature allows you to fill in this missing data. Users select this option from the Explore section of Looker, which you can read more about it here.

The allow_fill parameter allows you to disable this feature if desired. By default, allow_fill is enabled.


Prevent a user from being able to fill in missing values for the Created Date dimension:

- dimension: created_date type: date sql: ${TABLE}.created_date allow_fill: false
